The first book by Spong I read was Jesus for the Non-Believer at I found it really great, though I already noted Spong's tendency to flood the reader with words. However, this book's subject was quite interesting and as he announced he would explain his conclusions in the next one, I bought Eternal Life.Unfortunately, it seems Spong has run out of ideas since then. In Eternal Life, the reader gets flooded with empty words from the beginning to the end. It sounds like Spong now just writes to pay the bills and this is very disappointing from such a brilliant man. After reading Jesus for the Non-Believer, I expected to find in Eternal Life foundations for a new conception of faith - what Spong promised - but there's none. This book is just Spong's conclusion that faith is a dead end and that he finally prefers to make his last steps blindfold.
